"Yong lola na naghahanap buhay pa kahit ganon na edad niya tapos babawalan pa siya ng isang lalaki na bawal daw siya magtinda dun naghahanap buhay po ng marangal si lola tapos papaalisin niyo po siya dun wag naman po sanang ganon. Vacation Months Is The Best Time To Get Circumsiced

Image
ADVERTISEMENTS Circumcision, or the removal of some or all of the foreskin from the penis, is prevalent here, with most Filipinos claiming that it is a "rite of passage" to manhood. Others, meanwhile, believe that the process can make one taller, or have lesser chances of getting sexually transmitted diseases (STD) such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). But for other doctor, none of these are true. The only purpose of circumcision said, is to remove an unusually tight foreskin from the penis that obstructs the flow of urine. Once a boy starts to experience problems while urinating, it's time for him to go to a doctor to get himself checked, the doctor said. "Pero hindi naman talaga 'yun eh, more on avoidance talaga 'pag HIV at STD," he said, referring to the so-called link between circumcision and lower risk of HIV. He added, "Dapat natitignan talaga 'yan nang mabuti kasi may mga kundisyon na hindi dapat tinutuli ang bata 'pag ang...

ADVERTISEMENTS "OUR HEROES, OUR HISTORY" By: Era Nunag PHOTOGRAPHER: Jenzel M. Macabali The Philippines will mark this year the 75th anniversary of Japan's violent conquest of the Southeast Asian nation, earmarking events that will honor survivors from Japan's atrocities and commemorate the lessons from that chapter in the two countries' history. Our countrymen, especially the youth, should not forget the Bataan Death March 75 years ago, in April 1942. This is the kind of heroism which is very difficult to find these days. The captives, mostly soldiers, began their walk from Bataan province and were later slumped into freight cars that brought them to their prison camp in Tarlac province 160 kilometers away, on Luzon Island. Historians said only around 54,000 arrived alive. The so-called "Fall of Bataan" marked Japan's successful occupation of the Philippines, which was then a territory of the United States.
