Anao, Tarlac Eyed For Ylang-Ylang Oil Export
ADVERTISEMENTS The Ylang-Ylang grown in Anao, Tarlac is known to have the best scent among Ylang-Ylang trees in the Philippines. The province of Tarlac is being positioned by the government and the South Korean government as a top producer of export-grade Ylang Ylang oil. The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (Philmech), the farm mechanization arm of the agriculture department, and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) recently signed an agreement for the deployment of 10 Ylang Ylang oil extractor machines to select Ylang Ylang oil producing cooperatives in Tarlac. The Korean agency is expected to provide P20 million ($447,928.32*) for the project. Philmech executive director Rex L. Bingabing and KOICA deputy resident representative Heesoo Hong signed the agreement.
